Battlefield 3

Despite my reservations about Origin, EA's attempt to compete with Steam, I decided to buy Battlefield 3 as I've recently upgraded my PC (Win 7 64 bit, 6 core CPU, 8Gb RAM, GTX580 graphics) and wanted something that would do it justice, plus I've been itching for an active game to play after struggling to find decent DOD:S servers lately.

I'm currently messing around on pubs with my old DOD:S buddies, Take No Prisoners (www.tnpgaming.co.uk) and we have our own BF3 server (click here if you have a Battelog account).

Any BF3 players out there drop in and say hello sometime.

I bought an iPad

I've wanted an iPad for ages, although I couldn't really say why, I'm not normally one for gadgets, but having found myself with a few quid burning a hole in my pocket, I decided to go for it and found myself in PC World on Friday evening, handing over £500+ for a 32gb iPad2 + case + stylus + headphones.

So far all I can say is I'm blown away by it, it's a seriously cool piece of kit, the touch screen is so elegant, the YouTube app is better than YouTube itself, there are bazillions of apps, loads free, most extremely cheap.

So far I've downloaded a few games, including a cool driving game where you steer by tilting the device, and a sketching app as I fancy doing a bit of drawing again (I've got an Art A level but never did anything with it).

I'm also working on a web app for work using HTML5 and a mobile jQuery library so this will allow me to develop more stuff of my own as well.

I can't seem to put it down at the moment, so much so I haven't switched my PC on all weekend!

Is Red Orchestra 2 For You?

Game's offering a truly competitive experience are important here at FirstFrag, and due to this, Red Orchestra 2 was worthy of a mention. There's been many FPS releases this year and there has been, for me personally, much disappointment. I've kept my eye on this title for a while now knowing full well it offered a distinctive FPS 'flavour' with gameplay steering headlong towards intelligent, cooperative team based gameplay. Needless to say, it's a title FirstFrag.org will be keeping an eye on.

Should you wish to learn what the game offers when compared to others on the market, a chap by the name of LondonHyena has written a cracking article for those wishing to enter this harder of hard core games. Read more to find out....
