Watched this and the new series, very good. Love it tbh, they could make some amazing series from both sets of characters and there stories, id like to see a proper rome one with soldiers and its conquest.
My favourite "You were belched from the cunt of the underworld, which is why I favour you".

Never quite seen it before but the trailers and ad's did look quite decent.
I echo what Red said, it's just the best TV program ever made 
You do need to take the time to get into it tho, it uses CGI backgrounds for every environment and a lot of the action is highly stylised, kinda like the movie 300, which tbh I found a bit off putting at first.
However the action is graphic and bloody, there's tons of sex, and the language is something else, not just the swearing but the dialogue is all very much of its time, they swear like troopers but it all just fits with the characters and the situation.
There's a really solid story line too, which drags you in as you watch each episode, and the finale is spectacular.

I wont reveal the storyline, but I'm really glad they produced a prologue to the first series as I LOVED Batiatus and Lecrecia.
PS. Considering the prologue was produced AFTER the opening season due to Andy Whitfeilds illness, I don't think I've ever witness such good story writing/directing by the producers. Blended seamlessly.
